Three Little Words

If someone asked you to sum up your faith in just three words, what would they be?

I gave the same challenge to our 8am Holy Communion congregation this morning. If you want to think about what I said, Click here to read this morning's sermon.

I’ll give it a go in four:

    “Do not be afraid”

Of bigots, of bullies, of bossy-boots. Of asking a stupid question, of wearing the wrong clothes, of going bald. Of mistakes you’ve made, of mistakes yet to come. Of suffering, of fear, of death itself. And of spiders (even the ones with knees).

I read somewhere that this command is repeated more often than any other in the Bible. I find that both a comfort and a challenge. Maybe its not the best summation of faith but it does, I think, provide the best starting point.

    "Will come again"
Not 'perhaps, maybe, could be, it all depends', but the unconditional promise which cannot be misunderstood or spun.
