My recent blog on Genesis has provoked some interesting reaction - not least among some members of one of our church's house-groups. I have therefore decided to do a bit more thinking - and put some flesh on the bones of my argument.

Thanks Tom. I found this short anlysis most helpful. It's a pity that over the years the perfectly respectable word 'myth' seems to have assumed such a negative character. For the 21st Century reader the mythical aspects of the various Genesis accounts are quite understandable and spiritually vital, but are not to be equated with the precision of 21st Century maths or science. I have similar problems too right at the other end of the Bible, in Revelations!
